Below is a picture of something that may seem ordinary or mundane, and perhaps to some it is, but to the many women and children it is helping it's anything but. The L.I.F.E jacket is a coffee/hot beverage sleeve that are handmade by women in Kenya as a means for them to support themselves and their families. All profits go to the L.I.F.E jacket creators to help create a better, brighter, more sustainable future.

For just $1 those are some pretty big things to contribute to. Plus, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't totally in love with the design; simple, linen, newsprint reminiscent - what's not to love?

Lay(er) it all on me
People often say a picture is worth a thousand words, but sometimes one picture is just not enough. To lay another line on you, people are like onions, we too are layered. I certainly do not feel exempt from this perception; on the contrary, I feel I wholly embrace and embody this concept. So, my photo today is a layered one, each with it's own meaning, the culmination of all having an entirely separate meaning. I will let you decide what those meanings are...

Good Morning; I'm Sorry
So once again I have found myself grossly failing the daily intentions of this blog. If it is any consolation true craziness has set in, creative karma I suppose. As I woke early this morning ready to curl on the couch with a mocha cappuccino, set on savoring a few peaceful moments, the dog decided otherwise and got sick steps away from the door. Alas, it is Monday after all I suppose it was silly to think things could go so smoothly. So as I bent down onto hands and knees to clean, a slightly less glamorous way to start the day, I looked through slits in the blinds. As I pulled myself up and pulled the blinds open I was bathed in the pink and orange early morning glow you always read about in novels. Again, this would have been a much more romantic moment had I not been holding dirty rags but still, it was gorgeous enough to make me forget that I was.
So I guess what I'm saying is, here's to your Monday may it have all the pleasantness of my sunrise, and hopefully I can keep the crazy at bay and once more attempt a photo a day.
My favorite part - if you look closely, above the vibrant swirling clouds you can still make out a delicate shimmering sliver of crescent moon. :)

Ruby Red Sunrise
This past Saturday while some were just getting to bed in the early morning hours I was getting out of bed, and out into the day to work the farmers market. As I felt a twinge of sleepiness and a longing for my bed everything was slowly cast with a warm red glow as the sun began to rise. There's something quietly humbling about watching a beautiful sunrise, but there is also something energizing about it, as though you are waking with the world.
Sit, Sip, Smile
These past few days I have been lucky enough to have some time to visit home and be with my family. So as I sit here on the screened-in porch, sipping some tea and listening to the sounds of the trees I can't help but notice the sun. The way it kind of came glittering through the screens and just for a minute cast a shimmering soft glow all around me. I snapped a picture and moments later it had past. So this picture is unfiltered, unedited, as I wanted to preserve the natural beauty of it. I hope this picture brings you a sense of peace and happiness, however small it may be, as the experience of it did for me.

Towards the Sun
It's Friday, so let us begin the weekend with a reminder to always turn towards the sun. Some days are darker than others but if you look, there is lightness that is waiting to shine upon us, and if you're like me some days you forget this, so turn to these flowers for a reminder.

Eye Spy
Today was not my best day but I suppose a silver lining is that it brought me to this place. Only a small distance away but an escape nonetheless that allowed me to tune out the crazy of the day, if only for awhile.
