This past Saturday while some were just getting to bed in the early morning hours I was getting out of bed, and out into the day to work the farmers market. As I felt a twinge of sleepiness and a longing for my bed everything was slowly cast with a warm red glow as the sun began to rise. There's something quietly humbling about watching a beautiful sunrise, but there is also something energizing about it, as though you are waking with the world.

Sit, Sip, Smile
These past few days I have been lucky enough to have some time to visit home and be with my family. So as I sit here on the screened-in porch, sipping some tea and listening to the sounds of the trees I can't help but notice the sun. The way it kind of came glittering through the screens and just for a minute cast a shimmering soft glow all around me. I snapped a picture and moments later it had past. So this picture is unfiltered, unedited, as I wanted to preserve the natural beauty of it. I hope this picture brings you a sense of peace and happiness, however small it may be, as the experience of it did for me.

Towards the Sun
It's Friday, so let us begin the weekend with a reminder to always turn towards the sun. Some days are darker than others but if you look, there is lightness that is waiting to shine upon us, and if you're like me some days you forget this, so turn to these flowers for a reminder.

Eye Spy
Today was not my best day but I suppose a silver lining is that it brought me to this place. Only a small distance away but an escape nonetheless that allowed me to tune out the crazy of the day, if only for awhile.

Alice in Wonderland
Alice in Wonderland has long been one of my favorite movies. I loved the Disney version as a child and now I am borderline obsessed with the new rendition. I have read books based on the real Alice and I am truly fascinated by her. One of the main reasons I love the newest version is because it portrays Alice in a much more realistic light than the earlier Disney fluff version did. Alice is not a lost little girl but rather, a figure of fierce determination, individualism, strength and of course, imagination.
I felt that it was fitting for my first post to be a photo taken of a watercolor I did based on Alice in Wonderland and the reminder to believe in the seemingly impossible, for that is what gives us the courage to face our everyday challenges and overcome them.
